Featured iPhone Photographer @cokejube

The language barrier with Corinna, @Cokejube on Instagram, did not prevent me from wanting to feature her gorgeously textured imagery. I kept the questions short to make it as easy as possible for us to communicate. The photographs speak a univeral language.

What is your name and where do you live?

My name is Corinna and I live with my son and our dog in a small town in northern Germany. I was born in 1968. My family was living in a village near the border with "West Germany", BRD. So I've been a typical East German girl. Today, everything is almost forgotten.

Mob Paint No. 46

Many places are experiencing the autumn season right now - perhaps that is why I was drawn to all of the images with rich fall tones. Even as a child it was my favorite time of year and I even penned this poem in elementary school which I still remember:

Fall my favorite time of year
Let's me know that winter is near
The bright colored leaves high in the trees
Fall with a rhythm in the breeze.
~ geri centonze (circa 1962)

There are so many possibilities to create with a mobile device. Just have a look at all of the images below created by manipulating photographs on a phone or tablet. (When available I have listed the apps used by the artist).

This is only a sampling of the talent in the Mob Paint Flickr Group - stop by and have a look! And if you like to edit your mobile photos in a painterly fashion, please join the group - we'd love to have you.

Get Inspired with Living the Photo Artistic Life

The latest issue of Living the Photo Artistic Life is now available for FREE online. Although the imagery has been created using desktop software (Photoshop), it is still inspiring for all of us who like to create art that begins with a photograph or a collage of photos.

The Editor, Sebastian Michaels, kindly allowed me to repost a couple of screenshots from Issue No. 9. You can view the entire publication and past issues here.

Is Social Media Anti-Social?

"Did you know the average person spends four years of his life looking down at his cell phone?"

After a discussion with my son about the merits or lack thereof of social media I stumbled upon this video posted by a friend. I've been thinking about the impact of social media on my own relationships. More and more I see entire families out to dinner each absorbed in their device rather than interacting with each other. I'm starting to sound like my mother, longing for the "good old days". She often says "No one talks to each other anymore! You're all on your phones!" Maybe not everything new is a step in the right direction.

The video below pretty much sums up the way I've been feeling lately. So when you see less of me online, you'll know why.

Mob Street No.14

“The purpose of a storyteller is not to tell you how to think, but to give you questions to think upon.” ― Brandon Sanderson, The Way of Kings

A good street photo tells a story or at least makes you ask the question "what's going on here?" Each of these images makes me want to know more. What's going on here? Who are they? Where are they going? What are they thinking? And, what happens next?

Thank you to all who contribute to the Mob Street Flickr Group. If you enjoy street photography using a mobile device, be sure to join us.

iPhone Photo Recognized in 1st ROYGBIV Color Awards

The winners of the 1st ROYGBIV Color Awards were just announced. I was honored and very surprised to find my Fuchsia in Pink chosen as 2nd Place Winner in the Landscape and Nature Category. This was not a mobile only photo competition so I'm pleased to see that an iPhone photo was considered worthy competition.
