Ultramask - Abstract Overlay App Giveaway

The developers of Ultramask ($0.99 in the App Store) were kind enough to contact me to offer promo codes for their new app. Ultramask offers 22 angular designs to combine with your images. The patterns can be adjusted to black or white and the opacity can be adjusted. You can also invert the pattern.

The makers of the app have this to say about it:

“We believe that encouraging creativity in people brings new ideas and diversity into the world,” says Eugene Valuev, founder of Ultralab. “That’s why we’ve created the Ultramask app in collaboration with promising artists. We hope that by introducing our users to the latest trends in digital art we’ll prompt them to create their own art peices.”

Here's my starting image:

After adding various shapes and lines with Ultramask:

Taking it one step further with the help of Snapseed I cropped and adjusted using Details- here is the result:

In it's current version, I would use Ultramask in combination with others. To make it a stand alone app here's what I think needs to be added:

Allow for Full Resolution Save, Crop Tool, Simple adjustments like Exposure, Contrast, etc. Also adding other colors besides black or white for the overlay patterns would allow for more creativity.

If you'd like a promo code for this app (I have ten to giveaway), just leave a comment. The first ten commenters will be the lucky winners!

To see a bit more of what Ultramask can do, here's the promotional video.

  11. Hi Geri ... might be interested in purchasing but I'm curious what resolution it saves at? Thanks!

  12. Congrats - your promo code was sent by email.

  13. It downsized an iPhone 6 photo from 2448 x 3264 px to 1536 x 2048, so not too bad, but unless I'm missing a setting somewhere I don't think it currently can save at full resolution.

  16. Hi Denise - all is well here in now sunny CA! I don't use a lot of geometric type apps for the kind of edits I do but I do like what I was able to accomplish in just a few minutes. I'm all out of codes now!

  19. I may be too late but I was thinking about trying that up anyway... Sounds like it is a good start at least and I happen to like the filter loop app even though I don't use it all that much

  20. Sorry Kevin - you are too late. I agree, I like Filter Loop too, but because I have so many darn apps, I don't get around to using them as much as I'd like to. I'll have to play with that one again this weekend - thanks for the reminder!

  21. I'm in the same boat as you with so many apps I think I have all of them ha ha... Well except for this one but that may change in the few minutes and I just played with filter loop the other day and was also reminded of how good it is compared to all the other crap out there

  22. Glad to hear someone shares my addiction. What would you say are your 10 favorite apps?

    ReplyDelete
  23. That's a tough question but I can definitely say that Mextures has been a favorite. I also use VSCO, Photoshop Express (every single time basically to fine-tune as well as snapseed for certain things), big photo and Skwrt as utilities, Over for typography or marking photos lately, icolorama more and more for effects, vividHDR and definitely Cortex Camera, distressedFX, glaze, union... Those are 12 of my most commonly used apps what about you I'm open to suggestions and trying new things? My IG is bionicgram, by the way. I really only started it about a year ago or just under.

  24. I have all of those and most of them I use a lot as well. I use WordSwag for Typography - love that app! Since I do a lot of painterly, I use Brushstroke, Tangled FX, ToonCamera, Glaze, Mextures, Sketchables (love that one!) and Distressed FX too. For blending I use Sketch Club only because I got used to using it when I did digital painting. I also paint over images with it. iColorama is one that I could spend hours learning because it's so packed with tools and options!

  25. I'm guessing you meant stackable's and not Sketchables but I did look for that too ha ha. I've definitely worked with all of those as well except not toon camera so much. I've heard good things about sketch club perhaps from your blog and have been waiting for the price to come back down to a whopping $.99 I suppose you really think this one is worth every penny? I also want to mention Acdsee which is new is pretty powerful and has lots of controls and I like the interface and subtle filters of rebel sauce. I'm still getting acclimated to Pixelmator for iPad. You are right, wordswag rocks. I believe we have the same addiction and there is no help for us...might as well enjoy ourselves. Thankfully, I can afford a few bucks a week. It's pretty fun having the ability to do so much with a hand held device.

  26. Ha! Yes I did mean Stackables!! Samer will be upset that I got his app name wrong - he's one of the nicest guys I've met through this blog (developer of Stackables). I do think Sketch Club is worth it but it may be because I have used it for so long. I agree with you on having the ability to do so much with a handheld device. Years back I used CS4 and when I think of the apps I could have for that! Paypal often send me specials like they just did where you can get an iTunes gift card for 15% off so whenever I see those, I stock up and load up my balance on iTunes so I always have money to spend. I'll check out Acdsee - I actually haven't heard of that one! Off to the App Store!

  27. It has the same technology and appearance as Instaflash with regard to the controls and gradiant masking. I don't know how that works but it must be from a third party or something. In addition there are loads of filters and other tools. I added you on IG. Let me know what you think. It an extra 5 bucks to add all of the features.
